# Degen mode

Degen mode is one switch on the launch form. The coin is **1B in all**, not 1B a chain. Each of the launch’s chains mints the same share of it and puts all of that share in its pool: **200M, 20% of the supply, on each of five chains**. On fewer chains each share is larger: 500M each on two.

| Five chains | Standard | Degen mode |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Total supply | 5B: 1B a chain | 1B |
| Minted and paired on each chain | 1B | 200M (20%) |
| What each chain’s contract reports | Its own 1B | The whole 1B |
| The rest of the supply | None | In Solana’s bridge reserve |

Every chain’s contract reports a total supply of 1B, so a terminal on any chain shows the market cap of the whole coin.

## The bridge reserve on Solana

On a launch with Solana, Solana’s mint holds the full 1B: Solana’s own share in its pool, and everything else in a **bridge reserve** owned by Pangea’s launch program. It can only be burned: nobody can take tokens out of it or spend them. It moves only with bridging. When tokens are bridged to Solana, the same number is burned from the bridge reserve, and when tokens leave Solana, the same number is added back to it, so Solana’s supply stays 1B.

A degen mode launch without Solana has no bridge reserve: its chains mint their shares, and every one of them reports 1B.

The opening market cap is chosen the same way as for any launch, and every chain opens at it. [Opening market cap →](https://www.pangea.trade/app/docs#pools)

> **Note:** A coin launched in degen mode carries a “Degen mode” tag on the explorer and on its coin page.
